Once the largest country in Europe now one of the smallest Lithuania was once a powerful duchy, which at its heights controlled parts of Russia, Poland, Belarus, and Ukraine.

It suffered decline and fell under Soviet domination but Lithuanians never gave up resistance and post soviet rule is rebuilding its identity again.

Today it is much be much smaller but had been achieving some success in the basketball world. Its capital Vilnius has been receiving recognition as a beautiful, cultural and historical city and the profile of this once empire is growing again.
