Finland

Finland as an independent state is not that old although the Finns have been settled in the land for a very long time. Finland was part of the Kingdom of Sweden from the 13th century until 1809 when it passed into Russian hands until the Russian revolution. This gave the Finns a chance to establish their state which they grasped and fought both internally and against the Soviets to maintain. The country is known for having a high standard of living, expensive prices and its lakes and harsh dark winters. The country of abode of “Santa Claus” is the country that has given us many gifts whether by Nokia, The Moomins or Angry Birds!
